Every country has a religion. So the point is lost. Some wars in history were religious wars but the big wars of a lot of modern daywere not based around religion although each country had a religion.

religion was a cause of the first, and therefore the second, world wars. and it was Islam. the ottomans were occupying, then withdrawing, from the Balkans in 1912-13, causing a power vacuum culminating in sparking the war. without this, perhaps the wars wouldn't have happened, so sorry, but we'll have to chalk up all the losses in the first half of the 20th century to being significantly religious
