As a Chevy tech. They are not ahead of it. We got 6 tow ins last week all shot motors. On top of the other 20 we’ve done in the last 6 months. Not to mention the Camaro with a 6.2 has the same issue.

GM has had to replace the engine on my wife’s last two Yukon Denalis and my Cadillac Escalade. I was told it is because the engine has compression issues since they’re force to use the auto start stop

Work at a GM product dealership, can tell you they are NOT ahead of it, we have more cars than ever coming in for service and jobs are getting bigger and longer and we cant keep up
