So the reason it’s 1000 yards is because the prop on the back of every single submarine in the United States Navy is top-secret. I spent seven years in the navy repair tenders.when they would pull along side of us to get serviced they always put shrouds over the props

almost hit a sub in new johnsville port in the middle of the night 20ish yrs ago. they had no lights and no boats around and we forgot to turn the radio so nvr knew until we were feet away from them
