Did you know that the Downtown Chicago prison is right next to the federal courthouses? Literally, just a few steps away. That's why, when there's a big trial—especially for drug traffickers or heavy federal cases—they don't have to do a huge operation to move the inmates. They just walk a couple of blocks with all the security, and that's it, they're already in court. And although it sounds crazy to have a prison among skyscrapers, the reality is that there's a lot of control there. Cameras everywhere, police presence, FBI offices, the DEA… all in the same ecosystem. It's like having the command center for the most serious cases right where everything is handled. In fact, when El Chapo was brought to Chicago, they put him there while his case was being resolved. But be careful, that prison isn't for serving long sentences. It's more of a temporary holding facility: many people are only there while they await trial or transfer. So it's not like they built it specifically for drug traffickers… but because of the type of cases handled in Chicago, they end up there. Crazy, right? You could be having a coffee downtown without any idea that, just a block away, someone who moved billions in drugs is locked up.

Idk about regularly, but two inmates did escape there like a decade ago lmaoo. They used makeshift rope and scaled down ninja style 🤣.
