in May I found out I failed my statistics unit again and my uni only offers this subject once a year. I’ve been sitting on this for months, so if this is u right now, pause for a second and breathe with me. these are 5 ways I’m approaching it differently this time 🌊 this was always going to be the hardest subject in my degree. people warned me before I even enrolled that it was brutal, and somewhere along the way I turned it into this huge monster in my head - something I’d never be capable of beating. looking back, that mindset shaped everything about how I showed up… and not in a good way. after failing the first time and realising it was my last subject - I made this big, dramatic promise to myself to get a distinction and end uni on a high. for a while, it worked. I went to every lecture (two 2-hour lectures every week), sat at the front of tutorials, answered the hard questions, even documented the whole thing online. I looked like I was “doing everything right”. then mid-semester hit. the content piled up, assignments stacked, and the second things got overwhelming… I froze. disappeared. my story of “being the good student” didn’t fit anymore, and the shame crept in fast. what I’ve realised since is that it wasn’t just how I studied- it was the beliefs I carried into this subject, and how harshly I tied my performance to my self-worth, that quietly set me up to fail. I’m still in it. I’m still trying again. but this time, I’m doing it differently , and more gently. if you’re repeating a subject, feeling behind, or carrying quiet embarrassment about where you’re at: you’re not alone. save this if u need it later, and tell me in the comments if you’re doing something for the second (or third) time - I’m cheering u on 🤍 Made with @canva @canvacreators 💓 #uni #failure #university #resilience #canva
