@mbari_news: Here’s a peek behind the scenes in the galley on MBARI’s new flagship research vessel, the R/V David Packard. Chef and steward Doug Kolp is in charge of feeding up to 30 people three meals every day. This includes shopping and menu planning, food storage and refrigeration, meal prep and cooking, and keeping the galley and mess hall squeaky clean. Food on a research vessel is essential to maintaining the crew and science party’s energy, physical health, and focus during expeditions. During long days at sea, a nutritious meal can boost morale and teamwork. We are grateful for Chef Doug’s hard work and dedication.
