You can clean out old herb or spice shakers (with the bigger holes) and fill them with the seed to sprinkle around / make it more easy to fit into a bag!

And never oatmeal! That can clog the crop, which can kill them. Only the whole oat grain.

If you're wanting to give them sunflower seeds, please make sure you give them sunflower hearts (the shelled ones) as they struggle to digest the whole seeds and it can cause digestive issues 🥰

For everyone asking why you can’t feed them bread - They get full up on bread but it doesn’t have any nutritional value for them so they are lacking in certain nutrients, they have full bellies but eventually they could die because they aren’t getting the nutrients their body needs

If there’s a farm store near you chicken feed should work for them too. You can buy a big bag and store it in a tote to keep it fresh. That’s what I do for my chickens❤️

what illnesses could they carry? when do i know its not safe to touch them? i love them immensely but i never pet them cause i fear they could carry diseases like wild mice and rats (that i love too but only handle when they're household pets, not in the wild)

I’m just starting out feeding pigeons, and they don’t seem to recognise the seeds as food.. The pigeons where I live aren’t used to being fed seeds by humans. They recognise bread, though! Would it be okay to throw them a small piece of bread once or twice and THEN give them seeds, so they know I’m feeding them?
