For those interested in the history, I recommend checking out the ceramics of the Peabody Essex museum. Even in colonial america, Boston merchants were acquiring Chinoiserie ceramics!

I think it’s interesting and important to under the roots however chinoiserie has been a staple in southern homes for 100 years. Most of mine came from my grandmother/great grandmother!

I appreciate the style of chinoiserie…growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my mom’s style leaned a little that way …although I did not know that some of chinoiserie’s origins are rooted in some racism.
