@myteacherface: #creatorsearchinsights Whatever your school’s protocol is—follow it! This is one area you do not want to make a call on. If the student is doing it to get out of class, that will be up to the nurse or counselor or administrator to decide. If you decide on your own that they are just trying to get out of class or faking it, and something happens, that is horrible for the student and a lawsuit for you. Sadly I knew teachers who didn’t think students had a reason for mental health issues because they weren’t even a thing “back in the day” 🤦🏻♀️🫠 #Myteacherface #teacher #highschool #teachersoftiktok #MentalHealth

We don't have a nurse. We happen to have me (a teacher who just happens to have his mental health first aid cert). Funding is nonexistent.

I started having panic attacks my senior year (2013). My last semester, I had them once a day. The school nurse was a saint. She listened and helped me. She was the only one who seemed to care.

Yes! My husband is a school counselor. Even if the child is "faking it" to get out of class, that's still a social/emotional issue that counselors are trained to address and teachers are not. Teachers are amazing at many things, but they don't have master's degrees in educational psychology. Utilize the counselors! 🙌❤️

As a mental health nurse I LOVE to see this. Panic attacks are not being dramatic, children don’t have smaller issues just because they’re younger. Early intervention & support is SO important

We lost one of our students to suicide…you are 1,000,000% right, address it immediately before it’s too late. 💜
