My finance is also a hatted chef and this happens to her ALL THE TIME. All of her (then) apprentices who are now head chefs have all of her recipes on the menu. They need royalties or acknowledgment

I understand Anfa’s and restaurant chef’s position cause they makes many dishes but when it comes to caramel slice and vanilla cake SO FU**KING BASIC if it was something more adventurous come on how many ingredients can one add, remove or replace. Let’s be honest I have my own private recipes like anyone else but who’s not to say how many other people have and do the exact same and say one of those people create a cook book and behold the exact same recipe I’ve made for years and years is there that’s like me being cut wanting sympathy that someone stole my recipe that I’ve been doing forever it’s so fu**kin’ stupid

Recipes are developed and tested with time and effort put in by the original recipe writer/developer. For someone to come in and take those recipes word for word, the end result of their hard work with zero effort, is not okay.

I think people have missed that it’s not just Nagi’s recipes- it’s other recipes from other cooks too they just haven’t come fwd publicly … also Nagi releases them for free and Brooke is profiting.

Well said 🙌 my sister and brother had a thriving Greek tavern. All there own recipes and marinades they had a chef who stayed with them for a year then lied about needing to go interstate for a family emergency only to find he went to work at a new tavern a few suburbs away and literally copied the whole menu practically word for word. It only lasted just under a couple of years.

in my home town they have the same meals everywhere and don't put any pride in to the dishes and with the rising costs it isn't worth going out just to get a shit dish you can make at home fresher

I think the difference is Anf is a chef, cooking is alot more creative and individual then baking, which is very precise.These baking recipes have been around since the beginning of time. Nagi didn't invent caramel slice or Baklava. I get it give credit where credit is due. Adele you are very right it is rife in the hospitality industry. Everytime there was a change in menu or a new Cafe with a new concept opening up near my old place of work my boss would change ours menu to compete with there's, although it was identical. I did leave there it was sad for the head chef and us cooks who worked hard and had all our creative insight broken by a competitive person who had no idea how a kitchen works.
