with the rectangles being white, doesn't your Cricut see it as a solid box? usually I have to do no color in order for circuit to see it as a border only?

ok with the shadowing. do you just delete the colour section you don't want in cricut when you upload the whole back design so it cuts the shadowing out? because if i make a duplicate of the back cover style the first layer doesn't recognise the shadowing as that's on the second layer. *note I have not copied your design but playing with the layering and shadowing like you've done on the back cover.
