Last week still feels surreal! Standing on the red carpet as a @L’Oréal Paris 2025 Woman of Worth, with @Vanity Fair and @Sophia Bush, sharing the story and mission of @Hello Neighbor. It was a joy and an honor and it could not have come at a more critical moment for our work and for the refugee and immigrant communities we serve. To everyone who made space for this conversation: thank you. Moments like this aren’t about glamour; they’re about visibility — for our Newest Neighbors, for families rebuilding their lives, for the simple but radical idea that kindness is a force for change. And that visibility matters more than ever right now. What’s unfolding at the national level is deeply alarming — not only the tragic loss of life in Washington, D.C., but the way this moment is being exploited to target refugees and immigrants who had absolutely nothing to do with it. Families who risked everything to stand with the United States, or who fled violence and extremism to survive, are now being turned into political scapegoats. In just one week, we’ve seen threats to halt asylum processing, freeze or revoke green cards, disrupt naturalization pathways, and even strip citizenship from people who rightfully earned it. These actions do nothing to make Americans safer — but they do inflict profound fear and instability on families who came here seeking safety and rebuilding their lives with dignity. This is exactly why we show up everywhere we can — including spaces like this one. Because stories change narrative, narrative shapes culture, and culture influences policy. And when people see the humanity of their new neighbors, fear starts to lose its power. I’m deeply grateful to L’Oréal Paris for lifting up women who lead and serve. Grateful to Vanity Fair for giving us a platform. And grateful to Sophia Bush for her generosity, advocacy, and heart. Hello Neighbor was born from a belief that we all deserve to belong somewhere. Being able to carry that message onto a global stage was an honor — and a reminder of just how much possibility exists when we choose to see and support one another. Onward. There’s so much more good we can build, together. ❤️✨ #lorealparis #womenofworth #wereworthit #nonprofitsoftiktok #workingmom
