@rus_in_the_us: In Russia, there are no fun during the class. Students should keep silence and pay all their attention to the teacher. School year from 1st September to 25 th May. The class duration: elementary-30 min, others - 45 min. The break is 10-15 minutes. There is a big break for lunch. No outdoor activities between classes, all the breaks are inside. PE classes take place outside if the weather is good. A lot of homework since 2nd grade. By the 3d grade students can multiply the numbers up to 10. By the end of middle school they know quadratic equations, functions and graphs, algebraic fractions, square root functions (omg, I forgot everything🥹). By the end of 11th grade they know mathematical statistics, probability theory for beginners. From my youth, I had learned from my parents helping me, homework, but for the classes I excelled in I remember helping my classmates, sometimes you other classmates can be a great help too!

A lot of schools do still have homework. As a teacher, we are taught to assign 15 minutes per grade level. So, second grade=30 minutes. Some do more, so do less. But most schools offer tutoring

It depends on schools as well. In some middle schools they offer honors classes. Then in high school there can be AP and honors. Also some schools are International Baccalaureate.

Homework is useless here and teachers sit around and teach trash. The current curriculum doesn’t teach you how to do math it teaches you shortcuts and you spend years on useless history
