Only toxic mothers tell a story of dad left for milk or smokes and never came back. I know mothers who keep the dads away on purpose and tell the kid the dad left and don’t care.

my dad abandoned me when I was 17 and married. to this day I think he agreed to let me marry so he didn't have to pay a year of child support. Never forgave. But I was thankful my mom found herself.
