@heelerpoint: POV: You get a reactive dog…. This was us with Han, we felt tossed into the deep end despite all the research we did beforehand. But instead of giving up, we kicked it up to 100 on learning, training and becoming better handlers for him. We took countless hours of group dog classes, for years. We worked with his breeder, our vet and the trainers to formulate an always evolving plan of training. I don’t know the hours we spent practicing with him at Home Depot and Petcos etc. But it was all worth it. Han went from being highly reactive on leash, to calmly walking through stores, busy art markets, going to hotels, national parks and more. There are still specific situations I just won’t put him in, but overall he can go to 99% of activities with us. If you are on this type of journey with your dog, keep training and working at it!
