As an HVAC technician I use these in my own home. At MERV 8 they are equivalent to the ridged ones and my amp draw on my blower was the same between this and the paper filters.

as an Indoor Air Quality Technician in the HVAC field I would highly recommend a duct cleaning for yall. your return grill and box are heavily caked. meaning the other ducts could be equally as bad

I'm an AC service tech in Florida and i would not recommend these for your ac system. what he had in there already was fine. If you do need a more expensive pleated filter those are okay as well.

What is the static PSI? Might restrict air flow and damage your blower or slow down airflow and freeze the coil damaging the compressor.

I use K&N filters in our house. Last the lifetime of the ownership of the house. And it’s about the same price as one of those.

as someone who sold to and helped hvac technicians you CAN use these but you will have a minor drop in effeciency from your system but as long as you keep the filter relatively clean you'll be fine

Those definitely help but they aren’t going to have the passive electrostatic particle trapping abilities that the expensive ones have so they don’t work nearly as well

The filter isn't supposed to clean the air. Its only purpose is to filter particulates so they don't accumulate on the evaporator and clog the air flow. lower airflow will make the system work....
