My fil left entire estate to his wife of 4 years. He had 6 kids. His new wife sold everything, including my husbands mothers belongings and moved cross country. Never to be heard from again

Best case scenario, the mortgage is payed for before either of you are gone , but totally get why you are doing this .

Nicks whatever-she-was contested his will (he had done only weeks before he died) & my kids got screwed. They got some but not nearly what he had indicated in his will. And they weren’t even married!

You’re smart to do it this way. I’m curious though, I know you’ve only been married 4 years. Do you think you’ll feel differently or change anything once you’ve been married 10+ years?

There used to be mortgage insurance, where if one of you died, the house would be paid in full. Do they not have that anymore cause I had that on my house.
