I took mine recently. In NYC cosmo school we have to take brand new mannequins. They have to be in their bag unopened until the exam begins. I guess its different in some states.

if you live in a state that requires a cold iron when using the iron during the test do your curls the day before and wrap them in a roller and leave it overnight

my cosmetology teacher had a list and we had to make sure we had everything in ziploc baggies for each service we had to do. we could use our mannequin heads from class as long as they had hair to cut

My instructors had us put a tonnnnn of hair oil in our dolls (not to the point of being greasy) but they were so much easier to comb in the actual tests omg

also it’s very common for the mannequin heads to have frizzy hair bc they have wavy hair. at least mine do.
