@theparentingreframe: Every parent I work with, walks on eggshells around their strong willed child. Notice where you’re doing this and make the shifts to meet your child’s emotional and developmental needs. I have 2 spots left for 1:1 coaching in May. You can grab free resources and learn more if you go to the link in my profile. #emotionregulation #parentsoftiktok #tantrum #selfregulation #strongwilledchild #adhdkids #tantrums #emotionalregulationskills
My trick: treat them like people not kids. Respect their feelings and figure out how you feel before responding. Head, heart, head. Responsibilities vs privileges is a great boundary setting 🖤

my son is like that, he wont accept a simple "no". but if i explain, he is very understanding and even gives me room to do things and helps. i have to be clear in my communication

My child is strong willed but not independent, she’s very spooked all the time and wants me to do everything for her, it’s a bit frustrating

Does this work for neurodivergent kiddo’s? I’m also neurodivergent and get SO overstimulated when my kids lose it. I also feel so guilty when I say no, and they 100% take advantage of this (I know it’s important to say no and to set boundaries though).

Something that helps me is giving him options. You have to wear a hoodie because it’s cold. You can wear a red one or black one. It makes them feel in control and you’re still setting a boundary.

All of this should be incorporated in to teachers college. The reality is kids are with teachers more hours than their own parents. Not that teachers are responsible for this kids but just to understand children better and how to manage

How do you navigate this in a split household where it isn’t the same in the other house though?
