The farm/ranch vote abandons the left about six seconds after, we get them back on their feet, every time. We have been holding the farmer in the air, just a bit tired getting spit on while we do it.

I’m from Minneapolis, but until last month lived in rural area for seven years. I had never changed one person’s mind in the seven years I lived there. Not one and I tried.

I think that same article noted that support for Trump has not declined, however, in small towns - and I would have thought rural and small town issues and perspectives might have a lot in common.

I live up in Mexico. My son was getting his haircut there were a group of 10 others saying “HE LIED TO US ALL. ABOUT EVERYTHING. Just for our vote. I didn’t vote for what he’s doing.”(they did,but) It’s starting.

University-educated folks need to not have default thinking that rural people are uneducated. They know plenty of things I don’t. Many of them expect to be insulted, so they’re argumentative. You can tell whom you can have a conversation with and how — common denominators, as Will said. Schools, health care access, highway maintenance, farm labor, the Weather Service, disaster relief.
