It doesn't actually solder, cut it in half and you can see the wires aren't "fused" like they are with real soldering. It just melts around the strands.

thats actually really cool. but also, crimps probably cost the same amount and are a better connection. Solder loses its viability with any movement because its britle and forms air pockets that don't conduct

Pretty neat product, but that's not how you should twist the wires. You should fan them out first then twist, it'll help the solder absorb into the wire and have a much better connection.
