@ashira.paraskevas: Today I was called a “Multicultural Monster.” First, she told me I wasn’t Australian. Then, she screamed at me for five minutes about being a “multicultural monster.” I was in shock—but managed to record some of it. This wasn’t just one unwell woman on the street. She represents the quiet racism many of us experience daily—just usually dressed up as “politeness,” stares, silence, or subtle exclusion. To her, my existence is a threat. But the real threat is her fear of the unfamiliar. And when we name it for what it is—fear, projection, ignorance—it loses its power. So no, I’m not a monster. I’m multicultural. I’m Australian. And I won’t shrink to make others more comfortable with their narrow version of belonging. What can we do? 1️⃣Call it out, even when it’s subtle. 2️⃣Educate yourself and your community. 3️⃣Reflect on your own biases. 4️⃣Speak up for others, especially if you hold privilege. 💪🏽And above all—don’t let their fear define your identity. #diversityandinclusion #antiracism #stopracism #racialequity
