Camellias love shade and light sun or filtered sun. indirect ! not direct. also when pruned don’t prune hard, these are very slow growing plants!!

The only problem with camellias is that the flowers don’t last long in a vase. They look beautiful on the plant though! Also, fun fact, tea plants are a kind of camellia!

My camellia is originl to my home, built in 1950!! I do almost nothing to it and it’s sturdy, blooms all year. It’s my favorite.

My grandmother had a huge line of camelias mini her driveway. As kid we would run the flower petals between our palms to make “soap”. It smelled so good!

There’s also the tea plant which I grow: Camellia sinensis from China. The tender leaves are harvested & processed for tea. It’s got small white flowers. Not ornamental but I love, I like 🤗
