it took me 9 months to find a job when I was laid off. 16 weeks is only 3 months. I don't know what I would do honestly.

It's a really good package. PIPs are really just the last step to firing. Rarely does a PIP work from my experience. Take it and move on.

They will make sure you don’t meet the PIP so I don’t know why people would do that

A few years ago my job offered 12 months pay for voluntary layoff

And I can guarantee those “low” performers aren’t really low/under performers

It would take 4 months to get rid of the employees anyways. PIP’s are more painful for managers. Spending hours coaching and retraining an employee each week is just a horrible experience.

You can fail a PIP faster than that with no time to job search while trying to succeed. Better to accept the severance and focus on your next opportunity.

Broadly speaking, severance. My current employer, PIP.

What this whole PIP culture has created is a very toxic environment, no collaboration. All people want is to throw everyone under the bus. Just inhumane and disrespectful to label people

Google did it too for one of their departments. And after not so many people taking it, they did a round of layoffs.

The Amazon folks will immediately take an LOA to get 8 additional weeks of partial pay before taking the severance. Get as much as you can out of them.

It depends what the difference between this deal is VS unemployment & how long I can ride out that PIP. If it's open for a whole year, job hunt in the mean time, take it when you find a new one.

4 months is a pretty good deal. PIP never ends in anything good and I think Microsoft only keeps those folks so they could decide if they need to get rid of more ppl.
