@cbsnews: LOCUST SWARM: A motorist filmed the moment a massive horde of grasshoppers descended upon a road in Laglan, Queensland, Australia, last month, smashing against his windshield as he drove through. The driver, Mark Suhr, said “millions” of the large insects were “destroying thousands of hectares of grassland of beef-producing country,” a sentiment that others have reported seeing as well. One woman told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation locusts have destroyed around 8,000 acres of her family’s property where they care for cattle.
