Definitely a trauma for me, undiagnosed ADHD and autism at that time.

causes trauma

As a teacher, these blanket statements about education infuriate me.

And on top of that many of our kids are also bullied because they are different. Left out of everything. Can’t make friends. Treated differently by teachers. Trauma indeed!

Totally agree with this statement. I was at school in the 70s and early 80's with undiagnosed dyslexia. Completely traumatic and felt worthless. It's time for teaching to change in schools.

This so reminds me of my son. So intelligent, but sitting in a chair in class with someone just talking, he just hated it. 😢

Looking back it was so traumatic for me but I internalised it all and tried to fit in with what was going on around me. All my reports read "always daydreaming, could do better, needs to listen more, talks too much". Bring a more practical approach to teaching to help neurodiverse students I say.

As a parent, I watched this within the school system. Many Teachers are not equipped to handle differences; they rely on keeping all the sheep in line

Posses me off that they’re labeled not up to standard. Wtf is standard and who has the right to say that. Everyone is different doesn’t mean one isn’t as good as the other. The government have done this because they want to create minions. And those that don’t fit in the minion category are labeled by society not as smart. Brilliant mind come from this who didn’t conform to minion society standards

The educational systems KNOW the 3 ways we learn. He’s essentially disempowering/discouraging school environments in the neurodivergence community. This group of folks can and are successful in school environments …… when the system is actually functioning properly..

Also students who are artistic, who thrive on music, art, theater. If they’re lucky, they have a good art or a good arts program.

My teenager daughter has Autism/ADHD and consequences are essential for behaviour not for struggling with academics. Neurodivergent kids still need boundaries, but compassion when it comes to things like learning difficulties.

@Moon Shine Holistic Therapy:my neurodivergent son in the early years had the worse teachers who called his stimming pretending but in the last few years of national school had amazing understanding teachers but despite this they are working against packed classrooms and rigid structures which have left my son behind. one size fits all suits no-one
