Let’s Make A Pair of Wings: Part 2 . My daughter requested a pair of angel wings for her Birthday. She wants to wear them to #renfaire and #comiccon so I wanted to make sure they were EXTRA SPECIAL by making them fully articulated. . I am not an engineer or good at the “Maths” so my approach was to study the inner workings of a birds wing and go from there. . In Part One I took apart my broken patio umbrella and used the metal tubing to create the skeleton of the wings. . Once that was finished I knew I would need to add a base layer over the metal frame so that I would have something I could attach the feathers to. . To create the base layer: • Cut 2 pieces of EVA foam for each piece of the metal tubing. •Sewed the pieces together on my sewing machine leaving the top open just a bit wider than the tubing. •Inserted the Metal tubing into the EVA foam pocket. •Poked holes through the top of the foam through the metal drilled holes and out the backside. •Hot Glued the EVA Foam openings closed. •Reassembled the Wing Frame using metal washers, Chicago screws in a variety of lengths and thick metal nuts as spacers between the wing segments making sure they can still move freely. . In PART 3 I will show you how I made the wired feathers using easy to find packing and craft supplies . Any questions so far? Let me know!! Wanting to make a pair of your very own? Let me know in the comments and I will message you once the BLOG post and the FULL Digital Tutorial are LIVE (they will include patterns, measurements, supply lists step by step instructions and more) . Part 3 and Part 4 with the FULL REVEAL coming up next! . #angelwings #cosplaywings #cosplaywingstutorial #articulatedwings #costumewings #adultwings
