@shamelesselle: #stitch with @✨️Amanda✨️Making My Own Magic 11 year single mom advice summary: you do not have to be everything all the time. Putting that that weight on yourself that you always need to be ready, always need to have the answer always need to deal with it quickly is usually the thing that makes you feel like you do now. Also know that the grace, you give yourself, the time that you take to give well-thought-out reactions or consequences teaches your children, how to respond like an adult, not emotional, but well thought out. lots of love, you got this. ♥️ #si#singlemamai#singlemomi#kidsa#parenting

No advice here. But as a kid who had a true single mom her emotions were something I had to deal with. Immediate reactionary punishment. And that still affects me as an adult. But I appreciated her vulnerability. That was good for me to know she was dealing with life. And it’s ok to be real. But anger and punishment don’t go together

Couldn’t agree with you more! Also it’s ok to apologize if you had a moment that you overreacted to. It’s ok to let your kids know you’re not perfect but trying your best

What great advice. I have had to apologize for poor responses and explain parents aren’t perfect and we make mistakes but it definitely made a harsh core memory and that makes me sad.

I agree. caveat is safety. I would recommend preplan, as much as possible, responses to different scenarios. improvise in the moment.

absolutely, no need to put on a show of infallible perfection. Kids do well understanding there's a human side of being a mom.
i used to go on strike.. handing the baton to youngest for a few hours, letting them experience both sides.. making light of every day decisions. 😊

As a 47 year old child free woman, I am amazed by parents right now. Dealing with all the things in the world AND raising children. I don’t know how you do it but I am so so proud of you. 💗

Perfect response—we have to give ourselves grace & permission to not respond until we are ready & able to do so appropriately

I feel like this could go with anything with kids. Not necessarily being upset but just answering questions that are sensitive in nature.

Great advice for everyone really. It’s okay to not immediately respond, it teaches them patience, respect, boundaries.

they need to learn to respect boundaries sooner or later. learning it from a parent is an excellent way 🫶

It took learning to accommodate my kids to accommodate myself. Seek therapeutic guidance on your emotional regulation. If you can't manage that, you will react to your kids as your parents did to you.

You can tell them they are out of words too. It worked until I was like a teenager I was like okay I won’t talk to you for a bit. It works and they won’t be too hurt by it

My partner and I are married, but I'm ASD and they are ADHD. I'm seriously ill and on disability, they are currently looking for work, so the stress means parenting is hard. This is SUCH good advice.
