in addition to dancing, moving through a crowd is about eye contact and a smile. you'll get a smile back (most times) and they will naturally move.

For colder seasons, bring a throwaway shirt to keep you warm while you’re waiting in line outside, then just ditch the shirt when you’re in the venmo if you don’t wanna hold it

If you have a huge group have 2 totems so when you split up, you can each take one so you’ll find each other easier. My group did that last year at edc and it was so helpful
