@mace.exe: Jagdtiger 331 was built in October 1944 with Fgst. NR. 305020. The tank was attached to 3rd Company, 653rd Schwere Panzerjäger Battalion. In January 1945, Jagdtiger 331 took part in Operation Nordwind while assisting the 17th $$ Panzergrenadier Battalion under the 13th $$ Corps. In late March 1945, 331, and two other Jagdtigers, 234 and 323, defended Neustadt, Germany from attacking elements of the US 3rd Army while under the command of Lieutenant Kasper Geoggler. On March 22, the three Jagdtigers engaged an American Armored Column consisting of M4 and M10 tanks. In the ensuing battle, the Jagdtigers knocked out up to 25 tanks while taking no casualties despite taking about a dozen hits combined across 331 and 323 and being strafed by allied airpower. Later that day, Jagdtiger 331 and 323 took positions on Landauer Street in Neustadt across from each other. The next day on March 23, the US army took the town and found 331 and 323 abandoned. The two were recovered later, and 331 became a signpost for a crossroad at one point. In the 1950s, 331 was relocated to the Ordinance Museum at the Aberdeen proving grounds.
