I’m an Eisenhower Republican. General Eisenhower’s rise to fame was due to his crucial leadership during WW2. As supreme commander of the allied forces, Ike helped lead the U.S. along with the world to victory over the Nazis. Shortly after the war he’s recruited by BOTH parties to run for President. He declines. To Ike, his leadership was a duty to his country not for the sake of political gain. Most importantly, he didn’t seek power - he was called to it because his peers and fellow countrymen trusted and believed in him.

But eventually - he accepts and runs as a Republican. What follows are 8 of some of the most dominant, yet principled years of leadership by a president our nation has ever seen.

He takes on a $10b deficit from the Truman administration, and manages to balance the budget 3 times, even handing JFK a budget surplus when he left office.

Public trust in government rates were at all time highs during his leadership and he even raked in a whopping 79% approval rating. In fact, he enjoyed a record high 65% average approval rating which to date is only surpassed by JFK’s 70%.

And before he left office… he foresaw the rise of the military industrial complex and warned us…

He signed both of the first two civil rights acts since the reconstruction era in 1957 and 1960, paving the way for the beginning of desegregation… he appointed Earl Warren to the Supreme Court who gave us Brown v. Board of Education which finally desegregated the schools, and when tensions were high…

Eisenhower defended the constitution and upheld the rule of law… he sent in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne to escort the Little Rock Nine.

He even an appointed a democrat Williams Brennan to the Supreme Court because he believed in a balanced court.

Oh yeah, and we have him to thanks for building America’s highway system.

Ike showed us what principle leadership looked like in real time, he did it with humility and integrity… Ike exemplified conservative leadership that could get things done, grow the party, and bring Americans together.

Many call Eisenhower’s leadership “The Middle Way” but I call it… “The Right Way.” - #politics #republican #conservative #History #GOP
