I went to mostly white schools in very wealthy areas for all of grade school and here’s the identity crisis lesson I learned. Being a rarity in any room is seen as a threat to their mediocrity and they HAVE to put you down bc they WONT acknowledge their mediocrity. If they allowed the community, big or small, to view you as the gorgeous unique individual that you are then their own insecurities become reality and again they WONT acknowledge their mediocrity. You must be made the outlier or they can’t have faith in their conformity. And all of that is positive confirmation of what you know deep down, you’re special. Don’t conform, look in the mirror, explore your individuality without concern, your worth is not theirs to decrease or increase. Trust your heart and grow your soul. You’re a strong independent cayenne queen, earn the title.
