@tigerc0s: ⚠️pls read - I just recently often got the suggestion to “switch cosplays” and I know most people don’t mean it in a bad way but I wanted to let y’all know how unappreciative it actually sounds. We choose the characters we do for a reason. Comfort, relatability, preference and a LOT of effort and expense goes into every single cosplay. Wigs are mostly custom styled to the person, it’s expensive and a great time effort. Contact lenses cost money. Clothes are often altered too. And then to hear something that translates into “nah the other one would pull it off better” is honestly just upsetting. Doesn’t really make us feel great. Just seems like the way we do it isn’t good enough. So I’d wish for y’all to respect how we do it and not give us “improvement suggestions” that we didn’t ask for. I don’t want anyone here to feel particularly targeted or offended I just wanna be transparent and tell you that reading that to us is disheartening after the effort we put into everything to look good enough and portray them well and it’s just upsetting.
