That "less power" you feel is the ECU pulling timing to prevent knock/detonation

93 is also better for the engine right?

5.oh_dylan :
you need 93 because most bikes are high compression engines and 87 can literally detonate a high compression engine

engineer who had a project on this, this is what matters. your engine. engines require a octane level to function properly and reduced wear. high grade or sport engines typically require higher octane levels. putting in a higher than recommended octane level is really just a waste of money and can wear down parts a little faster because it burns faster. putting in too low of octane is an issue. when a sport engines is designed for high octane it's expecting a certain level of power to come from the combustion and clean burn from high octane fuel. when it's too low its not receiving the proper pressure and is getting more dirty than expected. this once won't do much but over time will do damage to the engine and many of its components. so please look in your user manuals and select the proper fuel

bro gas is gas it works lol higher gas higher combustion which would be more horsepower but more work on the block

Putting in 87 isn’t the end of the world. Little less power and a little less MPG. Otherwise no biggie.

it's gonna down on power a little bit, one tank is fine, but if you keep doing that's when the damage occurs from the carbon build up.

Motorcycle engines have high compression, and higher octane fuel allows them to run better in more adverse conditions (aka 100+ degree hot day)

As someone who works in the Oil/gas industry, when you understand the actually meaning of “Octane” level along with the basic mechanics of the bike, it’s pretty obvious why you don’t put 87 in a motorcycle 😂

Has a 13:1 compression ratio needs it but 9:1 and 10:1 comp ratios can utilize 87 properly

Im from Serbia, the minimum octane we have is 95, then we have 100 and 105.. Don't go above 95 maybe your pistons can't handle it

Higher octane fuel is for higher compression engines if your running standard compression you don’t need 93
