Yes, it is the fact that they have a kid, not just the ego. Cause that puts you in a very complex position were you have to take care of the kid and, most of the time, not be recognized as a father. Also, it often means another man is going to be involved, to a degree, in your relationship.

It’s also the fact that let’s say you marry a women with a child and you grow close to their child and learn to love them and bond with them to the point that start seeing them as your own child then bam the women you married wants to divorce you for whatever reason that may be and you lose that said child cause they are not your child there the women’s child and you have no right to them. Sure you can still be in contact with them but it’s up to the mother of the child to let them stay in contact with you but let’s say they are vindictive and they cut all contact off and you have no way to stay in contact with said child. So the child is as good as dead to you unless somehow down the line when they are old enough they track you down to be with you

I married and got divorced from a single mom. Her 19 year old son lives with me know 14 years later. Great kid. Would never suggest marrying a single mom again. When they say my kid comes first it is forever the case.

I feel like the problem is you can't discipline the kid because it's not yours and at one point you're like well we need to have a kid of Our Own so that over rules me being able to discipline my step kid and also feel you're always going to be at the back of the line
