Thankful you spoke up! My sons first bullies were teachers. He’s disabled and fighting for appropriate accommodations is an uphill battle. I get anxiety whenever I have to talk to teachers on his behalf. They don’t take suggestions well +assume he/I are not trying hard enough. It doesn’t feel like we are on the same team collaborating.

The reason teachers sometimes parallel estranged parents dynamics is bc one of the intersections at play is adult/child. Where children will always be marginalized…and yet adults will position themselves as victims.

You never once said that it was not okay for teachers to complain about their jobs. You were speaking on the way they go about it and how it affects everyone as a greater whole. You allowed room for nuance. A lot of the comments are deflecting

I agree they shouldn’t be getting on TT & bashing students, but otherwise they absolutely should be sharing how terrible our education system is. I left teaching bc of it. This is a bit reductive. Writing off the valid complaints of educated professionals and comparing them to estranged parents & boomers. Good grief this is why I left teaching, teachers get sooo much hate it’s unreal.

I call it the “I’m an Asshole” Defence. My husband does it. I can’t even try to discuss hurtful behavior because he blows, says “I know. I’m an asshole. You’re perfect. Everything I do is wrong.” So no conversation is ever really had.

honestly I find it disgusting that teachers spend so much time telling negative stories about the kids, some of them have no compassion at all. I block every one I see doing it.
