It’s almost like they realized people can do without luxuries but not necessities, so they flipped it.

luxuries are not cheap, what you think is luxuries is no longer luxuries and the real luxuries are so out of reach you might not even understand what they are

I just bought a mini PC for $148. Meanwhile, my rent+water (for a one bedroom apartment) is nearly $1,400 a month.

In 2014 i rented a 2bed/2bath 1,250sqft townhome in a small college town for $695/mo. It was dated but cute and well kept. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what they cost today, $2,100. In 11 years renting has become nearly impossible.

I don't understand why they don't get it when they're the ones getting the tv at black Friday and selling the homes they bought for $100k in the 90s for 500k?!?

For sure! I didn’t have a tv in my room forever until I realized I could get a small nice tv for $100. $100 is less then our grocery budget for one week!

Can everyone stop acting avocado toast is a luxury? It's not expensive. It's toast with a vegtable. Avocados aren't caviar.

In 1980 a financially responsible choice would be to move to NYC, grind for a few years, and build wealth. Now in 2025 people go into debt to live in NYC and the wealthy move to NYC to their wealth.

Healthcare is the worst! I pay $720/month for myself and 2 kids. NOTHING but annual maintenance is covered until the $5000 deductible is met. Let’s just say being sick in my house isn’t an option

When you’re told just budget. Stop streaming, cut out everything unnecessary. Yeah okay. We do that and guess what. That may end up saving 1 month’s rent in 6 months if we’re lucky. How does that help? Doesn’t magically make you able to afford said rent indefinitely going forward 🤦🏻♀️

This is because of private equity right? They made a profit off of all the “new” tech and then when that money dried up they came for
