@doubleamagazine: Roll Review #74: Daniel Verolme and Shu Kazami For this week’s #AaRollReview, we’re spotlighting two artists whose practices explore the space between identity, memory, and form. First, there’s Daniel Verlome, a Chinese-Dutch conceptual photographer whose lens is shaped by a life lived between worlds. His work captures the visual rhythm of place and the people who define it. Daniel’s latest project traces his year spent in Tokyo: a blur of underground nights, train rides, and the tension of never belonging, yet always observing. Alongside him is Shu Kazami, a Japanese hairstylist and visual artist. Shu’s sculptural hairworks draw from a quiet sensitivity formed in nature, care, and legacy. Think of them less as styles, more as meditations. For Shu, the gesture of cutting hair mirrors the act of pruning trees or tending to flowers. The two present Kakehashi 架け橋, a two-day exhibition hosted by Dream Unit on May 17 and 18 at Piet Heinkade 199. Their exhibition, Japanese for ‘bridge’, is a tribute to friendship, artistic synchronicity, and the creative bridge between Amsterdam and Tokyo. It all started with a haircut.
