Rob :
personally I think the nightster is the best starter bike plenty of power and 450lbs at least for someone smaller or not too confident. I say street Bob is ok starter for someone taller

A 117 motor for a new beginner? Maybe the older streetbob with the 107 or 114

You won’t regret it! Got both street bob and road glide and love the street bob more.

Any current Harley is a horrible beginner bike. Too heavy, too expensive and as you quickly discover your expensive mistake, the resale is horrible.

Buy the bike you want and just ride safe don’t waist your money on a bike you’ll just turn back in

What about a low rider s or st? Is that a good starter? Cause I’ve been looking at that as a first bike for a while

Thanks for the advice, I’m between the nightster and the streetbob. I think I’m going to go with the street bob.

never felt like my sportster is top heavy. and they were designed to be neutral and turn with equal force either direction

I’ve had three Street Bobs since ‘06 (two Dyna and now a Softtail). Though I miss my Dynas, I always recommend it for these exact reasons… highlighting the fact that learning correctly is key.

I made the mistake of going with a Sportster and I out grew it quick. Got so comfortable riding all over the place that I needed more speed.

I just took a test ride on a custom Yamaha XVS 650 bobber. First time on a bike in 14yrs. I couldn't get used to the feet position being so angled upwards especially with changing gears and braking, I found it hard to change up gears. I don't know if I just need to get used to it or get a different style of bike. I'm 6ft2 and a big guy seemed like I was too tall for it. I really want a bobber though lol
