📍 Duchess of Delhi, Cardiff Bay As someone who lives for a good curry, I finally made my way down to the Duchess of Delhi in Cardiff Bay last week and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not going sooner! Here’s what we ordered: • Fish Pakora • Seekh Kebab • Chicken Biryani • Banjari Gosht • Saag Aloo • Gulab Jamun • Baklava Let’s start with the starters. I’m a seekh kebab lover - it’s my go-to wherever I go so of course I had to try theirs. And wow, it did not disappoint. Perfectly spiced, tender, and topped with a drizzle of tangy tamarind sauce that tied everything together beautifully. But my unexpected favourite? The fish pakora. Now, if you know me, you know I’m not usually a fan of fish pakoras but these completely changed my mind. Light, crispy, full of flavour, and the fish itself was top quality. Then came the mains, Rosena - the manager, recommended the Banjari Gosht, a dish I’d never heard of before. I was a little hesitant, but one bite in and I was completely sold. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender - genuinely some of the softest, most flavourful lamb I’ve ever had in a curry. It looked fiery, but the heat was balanced perfectly, letting the rich spices shine. I would go back just for this dish alone. The chicken biryani was another winner. Aromatic, perfectly cooked rice, and a rich sauce on the side that brought everything together - not one of those forgettable biryanis you find in most spots. We also ordered a saag aloo on the side, and it instantly reminded me of a dish my mum used to make when I was younger - simple, comforting, and full of flavour. It wasn’t your typical restaurant saag, and although I love a good saag, this was a welcome difference! To finish, we had gulab jamun and baklava - classic and satisfying. Honestly, I can’t believe this spot has flown under my radar for so long (I call myself a food lover - embarrassing, I know 😅) If you’re ever heading to the Bay, catching a show at the theatre, or just craving a great Indian meal in a beautiful setting - Duchess of Delhi should absolutely be on your list. Now I understand why it’s been a Cardiff staple for so many years. #cardifffoodie #cardifffood #cardiffhalalfood #cardiffeats #cardifffoodguide
