Plastigauge is more for the do it yourself at home guy, at least it gives you a general idea, if it’s too tight, or too loose. Dave’s way is the fool proof, more precise , & the correct way. 👍

I learned how to use plastic gauge in high school in 1984 an auto shop class check main clearance and crankshaft. I sure hope they bring auto shot back

For the average Joe plastic age is excellent because she can’t afford to buy all the measuring tools a shop it’s better to measure than used plastic gauge.

plastigage is a verification tool only. not a measuring instrument. if the math is good and the machining is good then there's no problem. it's simply used as a last check to verify the clearance is correct. double checking your work so to speak.
