There should be a set screw in that hole see if there is an you should be able to move it

I am an ASE certified MinnKota repair center. Those motor housing and shafts are factory glued, the proper repair is a new housing and shaft.You might be able to JB weld it but you have to get it deep and slide that gap up, then pull the wires in the head. Message me if you would like anymore help!!!

You probably need to order a new shaft and you have to glue it in and stuff the wires through the shaft not the biggest deal in the world I’ve done it

maybe take it someone that works on them and ask their advice but you do the work so they don't charge you .
