physical games were still playable offline. also Nintendo is leading the price increase. we just got a $10 jump in price last year and now they are wanting to do it again. but quality and cost have not increased by that

the problem is that while xbox or Playstation can ban your online account your physical games could still be played not only are they not actually giving us physical games they can brick your console as well.

So it’s always been like that with all digital games but they are upping the price of the games to 80 digital and 90 physical. Also when you bought a physical game you would be able to own the game and play it anywhere but now the physical copy just gives you access to play the same as a digital copy. I have also heard that if you don’t have online access then you won’t be able to play the games at all they just won’t work. And lastly they have stated that if you make any modifications to the system you purchased (even if you are just putting a better battery in it) they can ban or turn off all access to use the system not just service

Okay. The taking away games thing. People need or understand that thing that pops every time you start a game for the first time, the End User License Agreement, that most don’t full my read. That’s a contract for the terms to use the game software, which the user can break and the publisher can revoke access. That’s not just games, that is literally any piece of software, no matter whether it is a disc, cartridge, or digital download. It’s so silly to get out torches and pitchforks at one company for what has been standard practice for decades across multiple industries not just gaming.

All I'm going to say is be careful when researching this topic. There are legitimate concerns around the system, but also plenty of misinformation spreader and straight up liars out there.

Part of the issue is that there's a lot of misinformation going around and people are running around spreading it and getting mad about stuff that isn't true or confirmed. I think it's fair to be upset about prices and things, but I think it's also fair to be excited about the new system. I think it's also ok to be both. Personally I dont think the console is over priced for what it is, but I would not pay $80 for Mario Kart. There's very few games that Ive paid full price for since the standard was $60. Most games I wait for sales.

All platforms can do it. The physical disc and the digital downloads are license keys. People just don’t read the fine print. The only thing I don’t agree with is bricking the system.

Nintendo has some shitty practices (like the lawsuit with Palworld and the anti-arbitration stuff and the reserving the right to brick your system if you modify your s2 in the TOS) but realistically, people act like Nintendo is unique when it comes to giving meaningless physical media instead of the game (though game key cards are not the exact same as they still are needed after installing but don’t require internet after and pretty sure it’s been said it won’t be all games). I recall several games I bought in the past that came with a game case but inside was either just a piece of paper or a cardboard disc with the code on it, and these were PC games. Pretty much any digital game can be removed from a platform at anytime. Even Steam is not immune to it.

The price increase for games is far more than any other price per game increase. And the cartridge being a “key” is deceptive. Being able to brick your console is anti consumer.

ive had issues with all the platforms cause its all getting so expensive but cuttingbl the battery life to 1/2 the original switch!? i have a 3 year and i cant sit and play like i used to till hes older... i want the games... but son comes first and i cant bring the switch 2 with me like the original for brief moments of calm.

I like to blame ppl buying a system at launch that makes them feel like they can charge what they want. We all know the S2 is not going to be that good, graphics wise.
