I’ve been saying this!!! Especially with the “kids can’t read” rhetoric about young gen z/gen alpha. If they “can’t read” that’s clearly a symptom of a FAILING education system

in terms of ai in universities, it isn't the amount of work, but how neoliberlisation of universities has made it the means to and end: you are not here to learn; but to get a grade that gets you a job

It's hard convincing people to see a problem as systemic, because if the system is the problem they feel powerless, and people rebel against that feeling. I have no solution, just a problem that kinda...eats at my soul

I’d also add that the structure and pedagogy of universities rewards having good grades / passing rather than developing knowledge or unique perspectives. So if a student just needs a passing grade to deemed successful why not cheat? (I don’t use AI just to be clear lol)

the thing is: we are losing that battle because the other side has so much more money. they buy the narrative, buy the state, and when the problems are evident, they will just tell you individually that its your fault

I think a rise of anti intellectualism and a devestated school system is a huge part of it as well. These kids did so much of their schooling on the computer and we didnt foster their curiosity. They’re pretty good laborers in a way. Get the assignment done as fast as possible, with little regard for self enrichment. Not their fault

idk the people that use AI to "create art" thats just stolen and regurgitated back at them arent really smart though? like yeah we're forced to work till death but why cant we call out the people that put no effort into ACTUALLY creating something and using their mind to do it?
