@ben.lindz: Want to Learn English Faster? Change Your Subtitles If you're watching English movies, good job. But if you're watching with your native language subtitles, you're slowing down your brain. When you use subtitles in your native language, your brain never gets a chance to process the English. It's too busy translating. You think you're improving, but you're not, and this can really hold back your listening skills and prevent you from becoming fluent. But subtitles aren't all bad. Watch that English movie with English subtitles. Your brain learns fastest when it connects sound to meaning, not sound to translation. Then turn the subtitles off completely and watch for 10 minutes. It will be difficult, but that means it's working. That means you're learning. And here's a bonus tip. Don't try to understand everything, right? That's not the point. Listening is the goal, so listen as closely as possible. Listen for rhythm. Listen for phrases that repeat, which words are stressed, which words are not.
