neurodivergent artsy weirdo adopted into a family of religious MDs and PhDs. 🫠 my entire life feels like a performance.

It becomes a paradox when you look for that acceptance and authenticity outside of yourself. Once you accept your full authentic self, you won't internalize others not accepting you. If you choose acceptance from others by abandoning your authentic self, you will not accept yourself for performing and will lose sight of who you are authentically.

I am not kidding. I am not exaggerating but I really think we need to be best friends. Can we please find a way to be weirdo, revolutionary, warriors together? Like Thelma & Louise on a do good mission (but not in like the “I’m vegan”, gross kinda way)?

I'm just realizing at 47 that I likely have ADHD and neurodivergence. I don't feel like I fit in at all anymore but I had associated that with several spiritual awakenings.

I’m a teacher with ADHD. Not all teachers see ADHD as a problem. All children are unique and have space in my classroom to be themselves. ❤️

Love this!! The reality is, we are normal, we are ancient and we live in rhythm with intuition and connection with the world around us, versus how most people being trained so their nervous systems are domesticated into flat attention spans and surface learning.

Thank you so much for this! I’ve never felt so seen. The rejection and shame… of not being accepted and masking your authenticity your whole life. This gives me a whole new perspective. I’m so glad I’ve found your page and appreciate your work so much!🫶

🙌🏻 it took me a long time to realize that other people don’t think like I do, and when I realize that I also saw the gift in how I could do things that the average person struggled with. It really is a beautiful thing when you understand.

You’re better than Brene Brown. She’s great too, but you get deeper and I understand you better.

I’m not clinically diagnosed, but definitely not NT, and at 41 it’s fucking hard to unmask. A lifetime of being a social chameleon, and I have no idea who I really am…I feel like I was lost when I was a kid.

So god damn True!! Try to explain this shit to a spouse or workmates? 🤣 I am so fed up with all the making and people pleasing. I am the Master of sensing what everyone Else needs, there is no more room for myself.
And it pisses me Off. 🥵

I just wrote in my art therapy journal: ‘Being genuine is to be vulnerable to the pain of being rejected for who you truly are.’ Your point is SPOT ON and I am genuinely SO THANKFUL for you. In my life too many people have told me that they can be themselves with me. Isn’t that so sad? Neurotypical’s suffer from societal BS, ‘norms’ too but, (just like patriarchy with men) they still support it and refuse to acknowledge its existence let alone its damage.
