@warinhd: LRRP, an acronym for Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, (pronounced lurp) was the name of a small, heavily-armed team of 4 to 6 soldiers used by the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Their mission was to patrol deep in enemy-held territory. They provided most of the intelligence on enemy presence, strength, and movements. They moved stealthily and mostly unseen through the jungle doing their utmost to avoid contact with the enemy even though that wasn’t always possible. Often times a small LRRP team would be forced to fight a much larger force and they suffered a high casualty rate during the Vietnam War #vietnam #war #History #warzone #in #hd #us #combat #footage #documentary #interview #army #marines #navy #airforce #spaceforce #coastguard #1960s #peace #hippie #fyp #fypシ #fy #f #reality #capcut #plane #jet #helicopter #pilot #lrrp #door #gunner

After I got out of the Marines I worked with a guy that was a Huey door gunner in Vietnam. Nicest guy you ever met. Would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He warned me early on to never sneak up on him or scare him if I can help it. Being a Vet and seeing guys with PTSD from OIF he didnt have to explain anymore then that. One day I was walking up to him and accidentally scared him. Dude spun around and pulled his box knife out with this look of fear/fight of death on his face. He quickly realized what happened and apologized. He told me some of his stories of his times in Nam. We had many conversations, but he never really told me the bad stuff. But one thing he said made me realize how bad it was. He told me he barely sleeps. Because when he closes his eyes or dreams, he sees nothing but the worst of Nam again. How he powered through life everyday amazed me.
