Make a never ending supply of yoghurt 🥛 Okay WHO KNEW that all you need to make yoghurt is milk and... some yoghurt? Technically, if you save a tiny bit of each batch and use it to make the next batch... you'll have a never ending supply 🐄 I'd never made my own yoghurt before and was kinda dubious that this would work, but it was genuinely so simple that anyone can do it (nope, you don't have to be a 'good cook' or a skilled homesteader for this to work for you). You can make as big a quantity as you wish, as long as you stick to the right ratio of milk to yoghurt. The recipe I followed for this batch is below. Ingredients: 4 litres of milk 6 tbsp of yoghurt (a brand with live cultures) Method: Heat up 4 litres of milk in a saucepan until it just reaches boiling point. When it reaches boiling, remove from the heat and allow to cool until it reaches the temperature of 44 degrees (a digital food thermometer is really useful, but you can also just wait until the milk is cool enough for you to dip your finger in for 10 secs without scalding yourself. Remove a cup full of milk and add to a separate bowl. In to this bowl add your natural yoghurt and mix together. Add this mixture back in to the saucepan of milk and stir until thoroughlv combined. Place a lid on the saucepan and leave at room temperature for 12 hours. After 12 hours, put it in the fridge to cool for at least 4 hours. You'll know it's ready when it's set, but can be spooned into a bowl. You can of course flavour your yoghurt with fruit, but I personally like mine plain topped with honey. Let me know if you try making your own! . . . . #yoghurt #homemadeyoghurt #homemadeyogurt #yogurt #cookingfromscratch #homesteader
