@relativelyintunepod: This is such a good perspective on stage dooring at a Broadway play. If you haven’t already, go watch episode 14 featuring @Jordan Litz . 🔗 in bio #wicked #wickedthemusical #broadway #jordanlitz #Fiyero #dapperdans #disneyworld #stagedoor #podcast #jonathangroff #swimmer #musical #play #musicpodcast #dancingthroughlife #playbill
I am TIRED of people skipping the show and parking at the Stage Door.

Even things like rush tickets and lotteries have gotten out of hand since Social media. Rush was a great way for locals to see shows and help build word-of-mouth. Sometimes the good review from the guy next to you at Sardi’s is more valuable than the bus ads.

it’s so unfortunate that it’s become so messy and nobody has manners. I always appreciate actors who make the time for it.

And the way people act when they DONT show up. You paid to see them on stage not a meet & greet.

Back in my day there would be like three theater nerds and it was really a great experience!!! Sorry to hear it’s changed. It was sacred.

As a fan I see how many of us there are and try to be polite by just asking for the autograph and say a few nice words so they can get on their way home. I would feel selfish if I tried to take more of their time with a longer conversation. It’s interesting that this can feel transactional on their side.

Yesss I remember waiting by the stage door to applaud actors again. It was never to get autographs or pics. There was never a barricade or queue or anything. Just people clapping as you leave 🤷♀️

It’s such a shame that this tradition has been ruined by social media. I remember Stage dooring Wicked in Toronto and meeting Megan Hilty. She took time with me to discuss going to school for MT 😂 I will never forget it ❤️

I stage doored for moulin rouge a few months ago and didn’t take a single photo. Just talked with the actors and had a moment. So much more fulfilling than snapping a quick photo and watching them walk away.

i stagedoor but because i make gifts and make sweater vests themed to the shows and it’s always such a great moment to connect with actors! but people take it too far - it’s so much pressure for the actors

Talking to Anthony Rapp during the Mark Tour was priceless for me. Getting to talk to any cast member at stage door is always so special and such a privilege as an audience member, It’s sad that some people got turned off of it bc of how crazy it is now.

I personally love stage dooring! I try to be as polite and nice as I can be! I lobe talking to the actors and having a conversation with them! it's one of my favorite parts. it's such a fun and unique experience you won't get anywhere else! I dont get why people try to ruin it for other people

Im from Nj and stagedoor often, but itd always crazy. I happened to be at Josh, RJ, and Maggies Last Outsiders show. It was absolutely crazy. Lots of pushing and shoving. But then, I went to the stagedoor for Hadestown in London, my first ever west end show, and it was so chill?!?! Absolutely amazing experience. We got to have a nice chat with the performers, and the crowd was so well behaved.

This is why we love doing stage door for touring companies. We get genuine interactions and are able to ask questions and learn about their process. It’s amazing
