A tagged (or banded) pigeon means the bird is domesticated and has an owner. These tags are small plastic or metal rings placed around one of the pigeon's legs. They usually indicate the bird is a racing/homing pigeon, a show/fancy pigeon, or a pet.

tracking device for racing pigeons, someone records the tag number if that pigeon wins a race. also contains the year it was born and where its club owner is, plus the pigeon number. I hope I helped you.

Most likely it was a racing pigeon & it got too old to race anymore, so the owner just released it. That’s how I obtained my pigeon Misty. She passed last year 😔

my friend raised pigeons and had a couple of like 60 they would fly out and fly back and they would tag them. anyone could've tagged it.

it's from a loft maybe it did not complete a race, maybe it just got sick of its crew and owner and went to find few friends, I've had some come back after years
